Email or call to arrange a time for a brief chat about what you’d like to get out of therapy. This gives you a chance to get a sense of who I am and how I work, helping you decide if I’m the right fit for you.

Once we book your first appointment, I’ll send you a brief intake form and an informed consent form through Jane App. The intake form gathers basic information, and the consent form explains the counselling process in more detail. You’ll need to review and sign these before we begin. 

I’ll also email you a ‘Things to Know’ document with practical details, including how to get to my office. You’ll also receive a copy of the NSCCT Complaints Process.

At our first session, we’ll review this information so you can ask questions for clarification.

Just Show Up

Starting therapy takes courage! The most important part is showing up, and that’s often the hardest step. You don’t need to prepare—progress can happen in ways you don’t expect.

Getting the Most Out of Therapy

  • If you ever have concerns about therapy or how it’s going, please share them with me. Open and honest communication helps me support you better.
  • It’s normal to experience difficult emotions—or even feel worse at times—as you work through challenges. If this happens, let me know. It’s often a sign that meaningful progress is happening.
  • Between sessions, reflecting on what we’ve discussed can help deepen your insights. Practicing any skills we explore can also be beneficial.
LET'S TALK

Sessions

I use Feedback Informed Therapy (F.I.T.) to ensure our work together is helpful for you. At each session, you’ll complete two very brief questionnaires—one at the beginning to check in on how you’re feeling and your progress, and one at the end to see how the session felt for you. This takes less than a minute each time and helps keep therapy focused on what’s most important to you.

Sessions are 50-60 minutes long, allowing time for preparation and note-taking afterward.

 

Communication

Appointment Reminders: You’ll receive email reminders via Jane App 48 hours and 12 hours before your session.

Cancellations & Rescheduling: I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. For scheduling changes, please reach out by phone or email.
