Hi, I'm Aaron.
I am a Registered Counselling Therapist (RCT) in Bedford, Nova Scotia. I provide professional counselling and therapy services for residents of Bedford & across Nova Scotia. I offer in-person sessions in my Bedford office, and virtual sessions.
I support adults and adolescents navigating challenges resulting from anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, addictive behaviours, and other personal struggles. My approach is client-centred, meaning we focus on what matters most to you.
Why I Help
Mental Suffering Is Real
We are all shaped by our experiences—our struggles and successes, the people around us, the challenges we’ve faced, and the choices we’ve made. My approach to helping others is influenced by the challenges I've faced—struggle can shape us, but it doesn’t have to define us.
I help because I know that mental suffering is real. I know how important it is to have support when life feels overwhelming. No two people have the same story, are walking the same path, but pain, doubt, and uncertainty are real. And I know that healing isn’t about - "Just get over it."
I believe that within each of us are strengths we often don’t realize we have—strengths that can help us navigate our challenges. Sometimes, we just need help finding them again.
I help because I know how hard it can be to do this alone—and how powerful it can be to have someone in your corner.
Why "Holding Space."
In 2024, after 30 years in the education system, I retired from my role providing counselling and support to students and their families. Holding Space Counselling Therapy grew from my desire to continue helping people while expanding my practice to support both adults and young people.
In therapy, the term 'holding space' means being with a person and their emotional experience without trying to fix them or solve their problems. The solving is in the listening and in the presence. The solving is in the other person knowing that you are there, you understand, and you aren't going anywhere.
I feel incredibly fortunate to have had excellent mental health support during difficult times in my own life. That experience is not lost on me, and I am grateful for the opportunity to offer support to others who are struggling. My goal is to create a space where you feel heard, supported, and free to be yourself as we navigate your challenges together.
